Liv to run

Lots of random ranting, whining, and attempts at being humourous as I run, run, run in pursuit of higher mileage and better races.

Stepping back

Finally got some excercise yesterday... went for a decent 40 minute swim which felt great after a weekend of lassitude! I've been fighting a losing battle with knee pain for a while, so I've decided to play it smart this week: agonizing as the prospect may seem, I'm not going to run - instead I'll cross-train, stretch, and start up a weight-training program for my legs to fend off future injury. By doing this I hope to be back on track (ha, ha - sorry I have a pun problem) within the next few days.

Yours truly:) Posted by Picasa

Intro

Well, I've never blogged before so here goes nothing... an attempt to keep myself on track, to motivate myself to run farther, faster, more often, and to be inspired by other people along the way. Okay, okay, I ripped the idea off a Runner's World magazine article a couple months back :) Hey, if it works, it works...
A little bit about me... I'm a 20-year-old female semi-runner, which is to say I want to be a runner but keep getting stuck in ruts: injury, laziness, my hopeless passion for junk food! I used to run cross-country in high school, but despite going to the gym regularly since starting university, I've not yet been able to recapture my stellar 5k time of... 28 minutes :$ (I believe I belong to that class of runners known as "penguins"... we waddle on). Ran a 5k and a 10k this summer, which were both so much fun and reminded me what good motivation a little competition can provide. So I'm hoping to get more focused this winter and explore some more racing territory next season. Wish me luck!
